Özgün Kabacaoğlu
Özgün Kabacaoğlu is a Ph.D. candidate in History at Dokuz Eylül University and a visiting scholar at Columbia University Sakip Sabanci Center for Turkish Studies during the 2024- 2025 academic year. He had been awarded a scholarship from Türk Tarih Kurumu (Turkish History Institute). He also received an overseas doctoral research grant from TÜBİTAK. Kabacaoğlu holds an M.A. in Political Science and Public Administration from İzmir Kâtip Çelebi University (2020), a B.A. in Public Administration from Anadolu University (2014), and a B.A. in Economics from Pamukkale University (2010). He graduated with honors from Anadolu University. Additionally, he has participated in courses and seminars at Yale University, the Science Academy in Turkiye, and Tarih Vakfi in Turkiye.
His research focuses on the history of states, political ideas, comparative history, historiography, and social science methodologies, with a particular interest in early modern topics. He is currently working on his doctoral dissertation, which explores Ottoman-French comparative history in early modern under the supervision of Dr. Nuri Adıyeke. In addition to his academic research, Kabacaoğlu has published several fiction books and writes a column for Gazete Yenigün in Turkiye.
